Reply to this thread with all your researched data about drop outs.

DON'T JUST COPY AND PASTE.Use your own words when writing that data.

Remember to include proper information about where you found the data as we will need to verify its accuracy, reliability and reputation. We will probably also need to get full citation information, which we will do together.

We need to know loads about the problem before we can fix it.

Cheers,
Kemp

There is an 18% dropout rate in Canada at the moment. This means that (120,000) students a years are not getting a high school education. According to the website (http://www.joe.org/joe/2005august/rb6.php) the amount of men who get jobs without a high school education would have more periods of time between jobs to find another, causing grief in the home of that person. In women they found that there was a higher pregnancy rating in younger women. They also found that more women would end up pregnant and single. The amount of money that is made by students with out a highschool diploma is significantly lower than those who have their high school or even farther collage.

This web site did a study on students, which more or less was just a series of tests that they examined and based of that they found that more students who had households reaching above the national average of 89% for earning a high school diploma were those with both natural parents. The only households reaching above the national average of 89% for earning a high school diploma were those where one or both parents graduated from high school.

There are many reasons why the students dropped out of the high school. However, there is also the consequence of dropping school that they will meet. They have harder time to find jobs and get less paid. Some students dropped out of school because of lacking good supporter. They need money to support for themselves. They need to pay for their rents and foods.

Who are dropping? Majority of those who dropped out of high school are men. In 2004-2005, the rate of dropping school for men was 12.2%. As a reason for dropping out high school some Young men wanting to work and earn money.

Teenage pregnancy plays a big role in dropping out of high school for young women. They need to take care of theirs babies. In 2004-2005, the rate of dropping school was 7.2% for young women. Labour Force Survey indicated that four in ten young women dropped out of school and were heading to household. But the rate is falling in recent year.

2). "More than half the students who drop out leave by the tenth grade."
3). "20% quit by the eighth grade, and 3% drop out by the fourth grade."

The decline in the high school drop-out rate is pervasive – dropping out is becoming less common in all parts of Canada. -http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/81-004-x/2005004/8984-eng.htm#b

The majority of drop-outs are young men. Of the 212,000 drop-outs in Canada in 2004-2005, 135,000 were men (Figure 3). The rates of dropping out among young men was 12.2% in 2004-2005, compared with 7.2% for young women. For both men and women, the drop-out rate has fallen from 1990-1991, when they were 19.2% and 14.0%, respectively.

The substantial decline in the drop-out rate over the past decade suggests that many of the programs that have been put in place to encourage young people to stay in school until they graduate are meeting with success.
